One of the problems with antique buildings is that the original builders did not think through the design. Instead, they just added more rooms onto buildings with little thought. We have found that a little extra time and money spent on design at the beginning of a project can more than pay for itself.
Over the years we have built relationships with several architects and draftspersons. We know all of their strengths and weaknesses and can get the "right man for the job" for any sort of project.
We also work with several structural engineers. Our engineers have a unique knowledge of how to make heavy timber calculations which leads to timely, efficient solutions to the structural problems that we encounter. Often our engineers will stamp a quick hand sketch with different options which will give us direction and satisfy building inspectors for a small amount of money.
